good video, if a little long to make the point.
too bad that only cyclists will probably watch it. should be mandatory viewing for driver training.

I had more of an idea of the passing when the video showed the cyclist in yellow being passed. I had somewhat of an idea of the narrator's position by looking at the shadow that his handbars created.

Ah, a fellow acolyte from the church of the cathode ray.... Yes the video runs long and could always made to be shorter and more intense - though this would increase the risk of side-effects. (锕侊箒)~~~~---------------------------------------------------------------------- How to pass safely.

I have several problems with the video.
1. On a four-lane blacktop, I 'take the lane' because there is a passing lane for the 'motorized vehicles' to pass me and, there is no excuse for motorized vehicles to not use the passing lane.
2. On a two-lane blacktop, the situation would be seemingly easier because of less traffic. But, That kind of road almost necessitates outright, that a cyclist 'take the lane'. Because more often than not, this kind of road has no shoulder to speak of and, if it does it is always half the size of the width of a doorway in a house/building.
When I saw him riding so close to the edge of the road, that it was like walking on a balance beam, I was thinking 'He is asking to become roadkill by riding that close to the edge of the road'.

Yeah, the lane positioning varies a bit with the cyclist in the yellow jacket further out on occasion. I'm sure if lane positioning were the topic he would do a better job of describing his choices, but as it stands he was only ranking whether the motorist passed safely or not. So criticize as you want about the lane positioning, but the main point here is to show some examples of safe passing and unsafe passing by drivers.
