BEAVERCREEK TWP. -- A bicyclist is dead Friday night after an accident in Beavercreek Township. Sgt. Andy Worcester of the Ohio State Patrol says the man was coming up a hill on New Germany-Trebein Road at a high rate of speed and didn't notice that a dump truck was stopped to make a turn.

The cyclist crashed into the side of the truck, fell from the bike and was run over by the truck. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Could be a classic right hook, if the biker had the right of way.
Or if there is a stop sign/lite at the intersection, the driver may
have been stopped while looking to the left(with the intent of making a right turn)
then the cyclist squeezed on the right wanting to go straight.

Funny how when there is a rational, everyday-occurrence explanation that puts the blame on the motorist or an irrational unlikely-in-your-lifetime story that blames the superhuman cyclist, law enforcement goes with the latter version every time.

We had a story here recently in which the first ever pedestrian fatality from a collision with a cyclist was recorded.

The pedestrian jay-walked in front of an oncoming cyclist and a story quoted a nurse who wasn't at the scene and had no first hand knowledge of the conditions of the collision imply that the fault of the collision lay with the cyclist because the cyclist was "speeding"

My bet is the cyclist was moving fast downhill. The dump truck made a left turn (left hook) cutting off the cyclist who could not stop in time before hitting the truck mid-section, going down in front of the trucks rear tires which ran over the cyclist.

I'm with you, in that that sounds much more rational and likely. Not the story that's been reported.

Reporters never get the key facts wrong. What are you talking about? Yep, "lil" things like the exact color, make & model of a car, the height and color of a suspect they seem to get "wrong" and think that they're doing a good job reporting.
