i want to know in your mind which is the better bike..
a 2006 eastern element stock except for a shadow half link chain
or a haro t.r 2001-02 frame, diamond back forks, joyyech flip flop hubs, snafu sushi bars 6inch rise, basic three piece crank, alec supra RX rims,no brakes and huffy tyres
tell me what you think

i'd go for the eastern, personally.
here's why:
1- i have seen and heard too many bad things concerning the DB forks.
2- i would always choose a cassette hub over a flipflop hub
3- i don't like snafu as a company, because here they don't have a brilliant reputation
4- the eastern's rim at least has chrome plating
5- the eastern has brakes
6- huffy tires aren't very nice tires. they wear out really quickly.
7- i'm biased against haro
thats my list of reasons.

I would only choose a Primo, Odyssey or Profile cassette over a flip-flop hub. Everyone says "they are the same thing, they are made in the same factory as Odyssey". A bunch of Cassette hubs may share the same design as the Odyssey and may be made in the same place, but it doesn't mean they are as good. I have first hand experience with 4 "same as Odyssey" cassette hubs where the pawls were obviously made of inferior materials and were useless after a months use - the ends of the pawls deform because they are made from soft material. Something to consider. If you have a shop that will track down some Odyssey pawls, you'll be ok, but I imagine not everyone has access to a shop like that.

the frame is a trails frame. it now has brakes.one of the tyres was a bullet and the other came off a huffy and is the exact same.everything is new but the frame.the cranks look the same except for bb size.
the eastern is brand new. the pedals came loose and bent and sorta messed up the face where the pedal locks up.it is currently out of action for till well after christmas cause the cassette hub is ****ed already. i have fixed that thing 3 times a week since he got it.
the haro is trouble free.
and didnt cost $600

the easterns chain is also ****ed. it doesnt come of the rear properly makes a horrible noise like its going to break and the cassette ring doesnt stay on for 10 mins of riding(even with loctite and done up real tight).

woah! you should have said so!! then go haro.

i got served but the thing is the eastern will be back in action soon and it will be better than ever and i am considering buying a pair of odessy hubs and then we'll see

the eastern has single wall rims. a faulty hub. bent pedals. **** brakes. skimpy forks. severe chain problems. the seatpost is 10cm long(or as good as). eastern quality for ya!!
and it rattles heaps. the haro is silent

That problem would be with your bike, not every production bike they make. And if I see **** in another of your posts, you can consider yourself on holiday from Bike Forums, as I will ban you.
