  • Chorus and SRAM Cassette
    By:admin
Building a new bike and thinking of going to Chorus...

...but I have 2 sets of hand built wheels with SRAM cassettes. 1 pair is on Mavic Hubs, the other on an Ultegra. Can I use a Campy group with these cassettes and wheels? Do I need a Campy cassette? Are SRAM / Shimano / Campy cassettes interchangeable, or do they have a spline / freewheel conflict?

You don't say how many speeds, but in the 7-, 9- and 10-speed flavors, Campagnolo and Shimano spacing are close enough to interchange OK.

Back in the 8-speed era, the two systems used rather different spacing, enough that they generally couldn't be mixed without playing games with the spacers.

    9 Speed.
The move would be from an Ultegra bike to a Chorus Bike, and I'm hoping to use the same wheels between the 2.

    Thanks for the quick response...

Harris Cyclery is a fine shop.
Been dropping in to browse once every few weeks when I head to Cambridge for work.

You can also use the Jtek ShiftMate device if you are using a Campagnolo derailleur system with a Shimano (or SRAM) drivetrain. Works great.
