Hi , i decided to move my shifters up for a more comfortable position , and after doing so i found out that the tightening torque for shifters is 10nm. I definitely tightened it more than 10nm. I read somewhere that shifters should be really tight because there is a lot of stress placed...so is 10nm really enough?
BTW my bars are not carbon.

They need to be tight enough not to move when you push on them with your hand. I leave mine loose enough that they will twist in a crash rather than break.

10 nm is 88 in-pounds which is pretty tight. If you are using an ordinary L-shaped allan wrench it is unlikely you overtightened the bolt unless you put a long cheater on the wrench

Thanks , i have another question , would there be a risk of the threads in the bolts or shifters stripping because they are too tight? And under what cirumstances would the threads strip?

If they didn't strip when you tightened them, they won't do it now. They will strip while being tightened or if you crash and hit them hard enough to rip out the bolt. If you are really concerned, back the bolts out a couple of degrees and forget about it.
