  • Is this Raliegh worth $35?
    By:admin
If not how much should I offer for it?

    It's worth $35.

Offer $20, but be soft, and willing to pay $35, if it works well, and fits you.

In my opinion any vintage bike that works well, can be ridden, and will be ridden is worth $50 or more.

I just paid $20 for a 3 speed that is in worse shape than that bike appears to be in.

It is easily worth more than $35.00.If you buy it be sure and lower the stem.

Vintage bikes vary greatly in price. There was a celeste Bianchi with Shimano 600 on craigslist for $25 the other day, got snapped up quick, it could have gone for $300 on ebay I'm sure... Then there's the joker trying to sell his low-end Nishiki for $250.

That Raleigh is definitely worth $35. Looks like it's an excellent condition, and looks like it's got decent components. Also, a nice frame. Plenty of guys who'd pay $100 to make that frame their fixie...

It's a mid-1970s Supercourse, made of Reynolds 531. It would easily sell for 10 times that or more on eBay. (I'll give you $40...)

Thats a straight guage Reynolds 531 frame. It appears to be all original except for the upgraded rear derailer and downgraded saddle. I'd grab it and run for $35.

The stem is dangerously overextended, but that's easy to fix

Hell - I've been trying to find one in that color and size for a while now - how would $75 sound?

    EDIT: Scratch that. I thought this was a post-'77, 700C variant, but it's a 27", mid-'70s model.

Is a Super Course worth $35? The OP is kidding, right?

As somebody above said, no, it's worth a lot more than $35. A lot more.

-Kurt I like the earlier 27" Super Course because you can put on a 700c wheelset and have room for touring tires and fenders.

a month or 2 ago I passed up an ealy 80's Supercourse in nice condition at a rummage sale. Two weeks later I saw it on the curb and grabbed it. I decided I didn't like riding it and ran a free ad in the newspaper for $95. One guy called and he bought it with no dickering. And I live in a small town..

    have fun,

    $35 is a steal.
Replace the steel componnents with Al and you wil take 8 lbs off the bike.
Note; the date of manufacture will be stamped on the bb spindle.

I don't care for them, for you're pretty much limited to those blasted centerpull calipers (I hate Weinmann 999s, and don't care for the appearance of the superior Shimano 500s) with both 700C and 27".
