Hey ya'll... got a newer bike 2 weekends ago... Specialized Sirrus Comp for $500... and it's great! Anyone have any experience with said critters that I should know about? Ordered a set of Vipers off of Nashbar's Returned Items for $64.99 and a pannier set with the rack included off of eBay for $39.99 too!
I've only had it a week and a half and have almost 300 miles on it... I'm concerned about the Armadillo Tires though, not sure how many miles they have on them. Read on roadbikereview.com that they are pretty stout, which put my mind at ease. I'm thinking about going up to 700 x 28 or larger for a more smooth commute... any suggestions?

My LBS is a Specialized shop so I have looked at the Sirrus several times. They look like prett sweet bikes, basically a road bike with a straight bar. Sounds like you got a good price.

Armadillo tires rock. I love mine. I just put some on my mountain bike. I've had some on my road bike since June. The rear tire went 1800 miles before I had to replace it. The front is still on and has roughly 2100 to 2200 miles on it. I haven't had a flat in any of them yet. Before that I was getting at least 1 flat a week during my commute. I'd swear by them. They only run $30 a piece, which might seem steep, but I'd buy them even if they were $50 a piece.
Sounds like a great bike. I actually looked at the same bike when I was shopping for my commuting bike back in May.

I bought mine used... the LBS told me that a guy traded it in on a Litespeed, and it supposedly has >200 miles on it. I was in the right place at the right time.
