I've been wearing the same bike shorts home at the end of the day, in part because I only have three pairs. Anyone else do this, or do people bring a fresh pair for the ride home? I'm going 21 miles each way, so the shorts are definitely worn by the time I get here.

When I used to go two ways every day (36 miles total). I would use 1 pair even in the summer. I did make sure that during the day I hung the shorts on somthing under my desk to let the chamois dry out so as to prevent bacteria and other undesirable things from growing (锕侊箒)~~~~----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh good. Just making sure I'm not doing anything too gross.

I, too, only use one pair. I'm very careful not to poo in them.
I sweat like a horse, and I'm sure to hang them up during the day so that anaerobic bacterial do not take over and turn them into a stink bomb. I also wear the same socks, jersey, gloves, and skull cap I wore in the morning, all of which have been hung up to dry and air out in my cube while I've been in the office.
So long as everything has aired, there is no problem. If I forget and leave an item in my bag, it's stinky, but I've got no choice. Even on those days, I've not had any problems other than offended noses.

Nope, I do it too. Sometimes I turn them inside out and wear them on my head to dry out. (锕侊箒)~~~~---------------------------------------------------------------------- Originally Posted by KeatonR

Eeewwwww.....
Just kidding. Except for occasionally on the days where I plan on a much longer ride in the afternoon (30 miles ), I always wear the same shorts both directions. Hang 'em up or lay 'em out straight away at the office so they can dry out quickly is all I do.

Fewer miles here, but yes, same shorts. I have a small personal fan under my desk which I use to channel warm air from the back of my very hot PC to my sweat-soaked bike clothes.

one day = one pair of shorts.
i do make sure that they dry out before the ride home. they hang in my cube and the fan is turned on them when it's not turned on me.

I change my shorts. I know it may sound like overkill compared to the rest of you, but I had a saddle sore once, and after that, I just decided to change my shorts after every ride, not just every day.

When I change in the morning, I wipe down the chamois with an anti-bacterial wipe, then let it hang all day in my cube to dry. Works pretty well.
If I used a cream, though, there might be issues with that.

I guess that's my issue. I use that Butt'r stuff.

I wear the same pair of shorts all day... I ride to work 15 miles, wear them at work 9 hrs, then ride home another 15 miles in the same day. I don't take a change of clothes with me to work or anything.

I wear one pair of shorts. the women's bathroom has a real window, so I hang my
shorts off the back of a folding chair, near the window. after my commute home, I
wash my shorts.

21 miles in the same pair of shorts is nothing! On Randonneuring events, I'm in the same pair of shorts for 300 miles. When I tour, I will wear the same pair of shorts several days in a row, for 50 miles a day. It's not that big a deal.
