i think i have finally narrowed my next bike down to an R700. i wanna know if the omega brakes are as bad as everyone says? i'm thinkin of just changing them out to 105 or ultegra(when i buy the bike), with some good pads, but open to any suggestions. thanks!

The omega brakes aren't too bad. However 105 is much better IMO.
My R800('04 model) came with the omega brakes and I rode them for 300 miles /-, they were ok but when I switched to ultegra calipers I did notice a difference in power. The brakes(pads?) felt less mushy and I stopped quite a bit faster.

I don't know what you're used to, but the omega's are good enough for me and better than the campa brakes on my 15-year old bike.

The first thing I replaced on my R600 was the brakes, to ultegra. Feels more positive.

I have a Cannondale R800 which is 2 years old now. I have never had any problems with the brakes and am very happy with the bike.
